American hip-hop artist and rapper J.Cole just hit a new charting record thanks to his fifth studio album 'KOD'. He has become the first artist in history to debut three singles simultaneously in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Plus, he's the first artist ever to have had 8 songs in the top 40 twice.
'KOD' has scored J.Cole his fifth number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and all twelve tracks from the album have debuted on the Hot 100 singles chart. "ATM", which marks Cole's fourth overall Top 10 entry on the Hot 100, landed at 6th place while "Kevin's Heart" is the new number 8 and "KOD" hit number 10.
'KOD' sold 397,000 album units in its first week, breaking Spotify's opening day streaming record. This type of success is comparative to Kendrick Lamar's 'DAMN.'
J.Cole had pushed out basically no promotional strategy for the album, making its intense success all the more impressive. It has also been announced that the deluxe edition of 'KOD' will be dropping soon, complete with extra tracks.
