Nike Drop New Cortez For 45th Birthday

Nike Drop New Cortez For 45th Birthday

Nike have just celebrated their 45th anniversary of the Nike Cortez brand and have dropped a few very special pairs of the Nike Cortez at Culture Kings to honour the occasion.

Nike Cortez

Firstly, the Nike Cortez Basic Nylon Premium in black and white that pays homage to the influential city of Compton. Gold detailing makes an appearance in the tongue branding, lace locks and 'CPT' embroidery on the heel. The Cortez Compton also has a suede and nylon upper in black with the contrasting white ‘Swoosh’. The low-cut collar offers comfort and flexibility through the ankle while the cushioned insole and full-length foam sole provides plush comfort.

Also new to Culture Kings is the Nike Classic Cortez SE in white, red and blue. This sneaker is commonly known as the 'Forrest Gump Sneaker', made famous from it's appearance in the 1994 film 'Forrest Gump'. The Classic Cortez OG has been given a new look with an updated construction and the varsity white and red colours. The Forrest Gump Cortez also has the low-cut collar and a leather upper.

Completing the Nike Cortez celebrations at Culture Kings is the arrival of the Nike Classic Cortez Nylon Premium in a yellow, green and white colourway. This design also resurrects Nike's first running shoe with the same clean, classic design to mark the occasion. The nylon upper on this one is smooth and lightweight. It also features the low-cut collar, cushioned insole and full-length foam sole with signature herringbone traction pattern for improved grip.

Nike Cortez

The Nike Cortez was Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman's first masterpiece, built to be lighter and more weatherproof than any other shoe. In 1972, it put unprecedented cushioning under the fastest feet in the running world and quickly became one of the most popular training shoes available. It was, and still remains, an unmistakeable icon.
