Alpha Industries' Women's MA-1 Slim Flight Jacket has proved itself as the ultimate bomber jacket by covering all the bases.
In the mid-1950s, the MA-1 became the flight jacket of the US Air Force and Navy pilots and ground crew and later became the first military jacket to cross over into civilian fashion. Alpha Industries' first government contract for the MA-1 was awarded in 1963 and production for civilian population began in the 1970s.
The traditional sage green requirement was later joined by a black rendition and has continued to evolve and expand ever since and is also now available at Culture Kings in red as well.
The MA-1 shell is 100% flight nylon with nylon lining and polyester fill and is also water resistant. This bomber is made with knit cuffs, collar and waistband as well as a storm flap for added warmth.
There are multiple snap-closure pockets as well as Alpha’s signature zippered utility/pencil pocket with the 'Remove Before Flight' removable ribbon keychain.
The standout focal point of this jacket is the bright orange lining making it completely reversible. This feature was a part of the 1960 version of the jacket so that if the plane crashed, the pilot could reverse the jacket to the orange side to signal rescue personnel.
The Alpha Industries' MA-1 Slim Flight Jacket has proved itself as a wearable and practical piece for decades but has also been improved to make it a must-have garment to get you through the winter.
