The Super Bowl was pretty fucking boring, if we're being completely honest. It seems that we weren't the only ones who think so, as according to Sports Business Journal, this Super Bowl LIII was lowest-rated Super Bowl in 10 years, after it drew an overnight rating of 44.9. This made the game the least watched Super Bowl since 2009, when the Steelers beat the Cardinals.
Amid the controversies surrounding the NFL and its treatment of players like Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, a lot of celebs like Rihanna have boycotted the event, and so have a lot of the general public. Then, of course, was the controversy surrounding the half-time show act - Maroon 5, Travis Scott & Big Boi. Despite being held in Atlanta - the home of hip-hop - not only did the NFL choose to have Maroon 5 headline, they were shit too.
The performance was basically just Adam Levine taking off articles of clothing as he performed on one stage - a far cry from JT's immersive experience of last year.
Here are some reactions to the Super Bowl. It seems 2019 might mark the end of this iconic sports event.
wow the highlight of Adam Levine's performance was definitely that his shirt looked exactly like pillows that an alarming amount of people happen to have from Target #SuperBowl pic.twitter.com/UL8WjdpJaY— Jenna Amatulli (@ohheyjenna) February 4, 2019
Why do people want a high-energy halftime show? They should book Norah Jones and everyone can relax and have a glass of wine.— Michael Benjamin (@mfbenji) February 3, 2019
