Amy-Jane Brand Premieres New Mix
Australian model, social media influencer, stylist and DJ, Amy-Jane Brand is back in the country for a short run of shows as well as a new mix under her belt.
With 579k followers on Instagram, Amy-Jane has become known for more than just her dope mixes, however, her newest release, 'Bout That Bass 03' is one to be recognized.
At 30-minutes-and-48-seconds long, expect a whirlwind of high-paced build ups and drops in 'Bout That Bass 03'. Amy was inspired by her recent move to LA for the mix. "After Moving from Queensland to LA and meeting so many incredibly creative people within the music industry I was feeling really inspired and I think generally happier," she says.
"I get a real sense of freedom in LA, something about the diversity in everything and the palm trees made me branch out to new elements of bass."
You can definitely hear a progression in Amy-Jane's sound through 'Bout That Bass 01' to 'Bout That Bass 03'. "I’ve really picked up so many different sounds and genres that I felt the pull to bring more layers into this mix. It was super refreshing playing around with new tempos and lyrics," explains Amy-Jane.
"With the hip hop, trap and even a little house thrown in among the dubstep, it’s really brought an entirely new feel to my sound. I want to create a taste for people and I really got to explore that within this mix, there’s some edits in there that I’m super proud of."
There are so many tracks included in this mix including Travis Scott's 'Goosebumps', Cadi B's 'Bodak Yellow', RL Grime's 'Stay For It' and more. When asked how she decides what samples to include, Amy-Jane says it's a long process that involves a lot of searching through Soundcloud and Spotify for the hottest tracks.
Coinciding with the premiere of 'Bout That Bass 03' are Amy-Jane's first Australian shows since moving to LA earlier in the year. Her first show at Newcastle went off over the weekend at The Cambridge, but there are still two more chances to catch her live in Sydney and Brisbane. Tour dates below.
All of Amy-Jane's live shows are mixed live so you never know what to expect. "It gives me the ability to change things up. I also make my own exclusive edits to play at gigs ... I think it's extremely important for smooth transitional sets. This takes extra time and effort but you can really hear the difference.
"I also tend to get bored very quickly so I mix much faster than a lot of people, I’d probably relate my style similar to someone like Skrillex which is fast, high energy and heavy hitting with an engaged performance so everyone is getting into it and having an awesome experience."
Amy-Jane is currently getting geared up for 2018 with heaps of announcements coming soon. "Music wise I’m working on more mixes for everyone, touring internationally and soon to be launching a weekly playlist which will show case all the new cool tunes that I find from small and bigger artists. There’s some other things coming up to which I’m extremely excited about but I’m not able to tell people just yet, so stay tuned."
